2010 HATTERAS LRC RENDEZVOUS
OCTOBER 21, 22, 23,24
CHARLESTON SC
AHOY
A few thoughts on the Charleston and future rendezvous.
CHARLESTON
The activities of the Charleston rendezvous of 2010 are complete, but
I’m sure all who attended will keep the memories of great times with a
tremendous group of LRCers for a long time. I’m always impressed by the
quality of the people who own LRCs. We arrived early and left late and
had an outstanding time.
There were 35 attendees, 1 65/70, 5 58’s, 1 48, and 2 42’s- a very nice
showing. The open boat was again very popular with all participants
trading ideas on things from the upper helms to the engine room.
Fred and Jill Erickson spent nearly a year making arrangements and the
results were flawless. There was a full schedule of seminars and
activities interspersed with good food, fascinating stories, and time
spent with both new and old friends. Special thanks go to Walter
Higgins for arranging the golf outing at, what was reported to be, an
impressive course. Whit and Beth Slagsvol treated us to a barbeque
lunch on Friday that provided great food and a chance to spend more time
together. Ron Baker shared hints and stories from Neverneverland’s
travels. Jabula (Walter and Susan, Mike and Kymm) have been kind
enough to spend the time and effort to create and provide us with a DVD
to augment our memories. All attendees have been sent a copy. If you
didn’t attend, and want a copy, send me an email (vincebirleson@aol.com).

BUT WAIT THERE’S MORE
The next chance to meet with your LRC friends will be in Stuart. Last
year’s Stuart event was so much fun that we are going to do it again. It
will be a rendezvous-lite in Stuart FL during the boat show there (1/14
to 1/16/2011). I’m working on the details, so PLEASE let me know if you
think you might attend and if you will be coming by water (requiring
dockage). We hope to get all of us at the Sunset Marina which is close
to the show and downtown. Hotels are also available.
Then …
in Miami, Richard and Judy Buttine will be hosting an evening on
Knucklehead during the Miami Boat Show. Richard will be sending out
details.
And Then … Dave and Linda Stahl will be working on the possibility of a
rendezvous/cruise based out of Baltimore for next fall. Dave will be
sending something out on this so you can schedule this into your 2011
cruising plans.
More? – yes
In 2012 we’re hoping to have another cruising rendezvous in the Pacific
NW – more to follow on this.
